Which Plastic Containers Are Recyclable?

Ever looked at a plastic container and seen the little recycling symbol? There should usually be a number contained within the triangular arrows, ranging from one all the way up to seven. In this post, we’ll look at what these numbers mean, and which types of plastic container are recyclable.

As one of the UK's leading plastic producers, here at Measom Freer we take our responsibility to the environment extremely seriously. That's why all the products we manufacture use recyclable thermoplastic.

We also include the SPI recycling code (that's the numbers we're talking about) wherever possible to help our consumers identify the materials used in the packaging, and the best way to recycle them.

What the various SPI recycling code numbers mean

All plastics are not created equal. Different kinds of plastic are used for various items, whether it’s plastic bottles, caps, or plastic containers.

Let’s take a look at what each SPI recycling code means.

  • How to recycle our plastic containers

So, now you know what most of our plastic containers are made from, your next question is probably, ‘Are they fully recyclable?’ Closely followed by, ‘How do I recycle a plastic container?’

You’ll be pleased to know that all the plastic containers we produce here at Measom Freer are fully recyclable.

Plastic types 1 to 6 can simply be popped into a kerbside recycling bin. Some councils might not accept all types so check to see if yours does first. And if not, then you won’t let a little thing like the local council stop you if you’re as committed to helping the environment as we are!
