Which types of plastic are recyclable – and which aren’t.

Getting recycling correct is crucially important for a sustainable environment, as reusing material and reducing waste means a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions – which can increase global temperatures.

One of the areas that can be hard to understand, when it comes to recycling, is plastic. With plastic being an everyday use, for businesses and households across the UK, it’s important that we get plastic recycling right – for the future of the planet.

And, with this in mind, Measom Freer are here to help you and your business recycle your plastic more effectively and efficiently. As an environmentally-focused business, and as one of the UK’s-leading plastic bottle suppliers, we use recyclable, responsibly-sourced thermoplastic to manufacture our plastic bottles and containers.

Recyclable plastics

The recyclable products we use to manufacture our plastic bottles and containers, include:

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) – bottles (PETG, polyethylene terephthalate with glycol)

HDPE (high density polythene) – bottles, caps, hand scoops, rigid tubes and tube caps, large spatula, adjustable fasteners and drive fasteners

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) – bottles

LDPE (low density polythene – bottles, bottle plugs and clip-over fasteners

PP (polypropylene) – caps and some spatulas

PS (polystyrene) – boxes, soap boxes, measures, spoon and some spatulas

OTHER - none of our stock products.

At Measom Freer, we reduce any waste through the use of ‘closed-loop’ recycling during the manufacturing process, with typically up to 30% regrind within production – made up from runners, sprues, tops and tails. And we add Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) Inc, Recycling Codes (as above) to products, identifying the material used – to ensure you recycle our products in the correct way.

RECOUP

Measom Freer is also a member of the RECycling of Used Plastics Limited (RECOUP), a charity and leading authority responsible for the provision of expertise and guidance across the plastics recycling value chain. RECOUP is also committed to securing global sustainable, circular and practical solutions for plastic resources.

As a provider of various options of recyclable and recycled materials, capacities, shapes and caps, you can be rest assured that Measom Freer have exactly what you are looking for. Not only do we have an extensive choice available, but we can also tailor products in line with your exacting requirements.

Our custom moulding provides bespoke services, allowing you to create high quality recyclable and recycled plastic bottles and containers – fitting seamlessly with your products. We also have printing services available to our customers, allowing you to extend and transform your ideas in line with your branding and company message.

According to the British Plastics Federation (BPF), every year an estimated 2 million tonnes of WEEE items were discarded by companies and households in the UK and, with this in mind, we also manufacture caps for the plastic bottles in both black and white, made from material sourced from WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling), resulting in a reduction of material going to landfill.
